We employ nurses and other allied health professionals. Together they provide a comprehensive array of primary care nursing services that complement the work of our GPs. They are your main point of contact for chronic disease management such as diabetic care, cardiovascular disease management and asthma and COPD reviews. They offer cervical screening tests. They can check your ears and syringe them without you seeing a doctor first. They offer travel advice and vaccines. They can see and treat minor injuries such as cuts and burns.
Sisters Janet Scott and Lesley Barr specialise in respiratory disease care and are both nurse practitioners and can deal with minor illnesses such as sore throats, coughs and earaches.
Sister Julie Vitty specialises in care of type 2 diabetics who use insulin.
Sister Jean Rutter is a former district nurse and specialises in wound dressing.
Sister Vikki Briggs is a highly trained practitioner who can see all patients who would normally see a GP.
Some of our nurses are prescribers and can prescribe independently.
We have a pharmacist, Charlotte Foster who deals with the administration of certain prescriptions.
We have a paramedic, Mr Andrew Goodwin who sees a variety of acute and chronic illnesses and can prescribe medication.
Our healthcare assistant Sharon McDonald can take bloods, carry out ECGs, breathing tests and dress wounds.
