CQC's current view of the service: Good

Date of Assessment: 1 December 2025 to 4 December 2025. Rockliffe Court Surgery is a GP practice and delivers service to 6,284 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that the practice population has a higher-than-average proportion of patients over the age 65 (25.9% compared to the Darlington PCN level of 20.7%).

Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 9th decile (9 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.

    People's experience of the service

People were immensely positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey and the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed people were satisfied with services.

Patient feedback was exemplary; regarding access to appointments the latest National GP Patient Survey shows between 94% and 99% responded favourably as against national averages of between 51% and 70%. Other areas that the practice received positive feedback from patients included feeling treated with dignity and respect by staff, the helpfulness of reception and administration staff and the quality of care provided by professional staff.

There was an active Patient Participation Group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. Representatives from the PPG described how managers made positive changes because of feedback, such as the use of an electronic signing in system and the development of in-house vaccination programmes.
